HMRC awards £13k deal for YouTube voiceover artist

HM Revenue and Customs has awarded a £13,000 contract for professional UK voiceover services for its YouTube channel. Earlier this year the tax agency issued a contract notice seeing “hire of studio recording facilities and voiceover artist to record UKvoiceovers for HMRC YouTube films”.

The department has now awarded the deal to music production and sound design company Street Furniture. The contract, which came into effect on 6 November and runs until 31 March 2020, will be worth £13,000 to the central London-based firm.

Since joining YouTube seven years ago, HMRC has published 154 videos, which have been watched a cumulative total of 2.8 million times. It has more than 28,000 subscribers and its most recently published content is a series of four webinars dubbed ‘Getting Ready for Brexit’.

Other videos created by the department this year include ‘A florist talks Making Tax Digital’, ‘When and how to PAYE’, and ‘Starting a new job without a P45’.

According to its website, Street Furniture has worked with a range of high-profile clients, including providing music and sound for adverts for Ribena, Knorr, Ford, and Transport for London.
